New Zealand Day 17

Left Queenstown heading for Dunedin. Past thru' gold mining country but decided not to try our luck! No dramas on this trip other than a few blizzards! Drove up the coast – the gales were making huge waves and spectacular views! Arrived in Dunedin and visited Baldwin Street – the steepest street in the world.

Drove onto Otago Peninsular to see the nesting birds and seals.

Tried to find the yellow eyed penquins, but gales were so severe that we could hardly stand up. We were afraid of being blown off the cliffs!

Off to Christchurch tomorrow, hopefully our hotel is still standing? The weather forecast is more snow and gales. Apparently the after shocks from the earthquake are still going on! Something to look forward to tomorrow!

  1. I've only just picked up on the adventures of the last few days and am not happy you've managed to go Skiing!! Jammy gits!! :-) We're only jealous, although we've been treated to a few days of nice weather back here but I'd definitely trade it for a couple of days on the board!!

Val I don't think you could ever live on Baldwin Street, poor White Lightning would be written off!!(in reference to at least two separate occasions where Val has left her handbrake off);-)

Hope you guys continue to have fun in Christchurch, loving the blog

  2. Angie says she is going to ask the housing officers in work to see if they would be able to let houses like these in such a prime location!
