Woke up at 6.19am due to 4.5 earthquake after shock! The hotel was shaking and we were somewhat concerned as we were on the 8th floor! Val, however, was awoken by the shaking and said to Tim that she thought it was a bit windy! You can imagine Tim's reply! It was severe enough to make the TV news!!
Had a walk around Christchurch and was shocked by the damage to the older buildings. The new buildings were fine.
Drove round the headland and over the summit road for the best views of Christchurch and the southern Alps.
Waiting at the airport for our flight to Auckland and then onto LA. We will arrive 7 hours before we leave! An interesting and VERY long day!

ReplyDeleteOn the home front, me and Rich seem to have picked up a stomach bug so are both going to be in bed by 7.30 tonight. Fingers crossed a good night sleep and we will be fine. The girls seem OK so far.
